MT. PLEASANT NEWS

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Hello, folks. Sorry that it has been some time since I posted any news. It seems as if news at Mt. Pleasant is fairly slim during the winter months.

We have started the new year out right by adding a member. Congratulations and welcome to the family of God, Johnny Russell. We are very pleased to have Johnny. We have two more that we are praying for.

We took the Mt. Pleasant Youth group to Gentry for an afternoon of bowling on Feb. 5. I believe all had a great time. I know our two youngest bowlers did, 3-year old Austyn McVay and 4-year old Lexie Standifer. Both girls had a great time and showed great form. Lexie is Julie Wardlaw’s granddaughter and Austyn is mine. Even the "bigger" kids had a good time.

We recently did our week at Care and Share. We are certainly looking forward to moving to the new store. However, Main Street won't seem the same without the store.

We had our monthly fellowship dinner at Mt. Pleasant Feb. 18 - low turnout but lots of good food and fellowship. We certainly have some good cooks at Mt. Pleasant Church.

Mark your calenders and put in your vacation requests early for Memorial Day. Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association is planning a day-long 100th anniversary for the cemetery. There will be live music and other activities and, of course, our favorite, dinner on the grounds. Please plan on being here this year to help us honor our veterans and those who are responsible for the cemetery. As we get closer to the date, I will have more information on the day’s activities. I look forward to seeing each of you there.

Have a blessed week. Looks like sunshine today, but don't know about tomorrow. This is winter in Arkansas. God bless.
