Wanda Tormey to retire from Decatur State Bank

— Wanda Tormey, human resources and operations manager at Decatur State Bank, will retire March 7, after nearly 46 years of dedicated service to the bank, a press release states.

Tormey is a graduate of Decatur High School and attended the University of Arkansas.

She began her career at Decatur State Bank on June 20, 1966, working in the bookkeeping department and the insurance department. She transitioned to teller and was later promoted to head bookkeeper. In 1980 shewas made assistant vice president of Decatur State Bank and, in 1981, vice president. She also held positions of secretary to the bank president and cashier in charge of daily DSB operations prior to her current position as the human resources officer.

In her years of banking, Tormey has seen many changes in the banking industry. From hand-posting of daily transactions into the age of computer-based technology in banking, she has been a first-hand witness of the progress in banking as well as numerous operational and bookkeeping advancements.

“I’m ready to spendmore time with my family, enjoy the grandkids and maybe do a little traveling,” Tormey said. “I’ve met and worked with some wonderful people through the years, not just fellow employees at Decatur State Bank but customers who have become like family,” she said during a recent interview.

She has been a member of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce and the Decatur High School Booster Club. She and her husband Jim are active members of the Decatur Assembly of God.

A retirement reception for Tormey will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. onWednesday, March 7, in the lobby of Decatur State Bank, Decatur. The bank invites customers to join in wishing her all the best in her retirement.
