R.J. Nova Gumm

R.J. Nova Gumm, 90, of Gentry, died Dec. 25, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born July 20, 1921, in Strawberry, to Robert J. Terry and Delia Sides Terry. She was a member of the first graduating class from Clover Bend High School in Clover Bend and attended Arkansas State College in Batesville. She worked for the state of Arizona in various supervisory positions and has lived in Arkansas since 2008. She was a member of Bethany Bible Church in Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wilford W. Gumm; one son, Terry Gumm; four sisters, Verlon Foster, Marie Mc-Campbell, Mary Horned and Bobbie Brooks.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Allen Gumm and wife Catherine of Phoenix, and Robert Daley Gumm and wife Lori of Mena; one daughter, Delia Haak and husband Bill of Gentry; one sister, Alene Grissom of Hoxie; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were Dec. 30 at Circle of Life Hospice Chapel in Springdale. Graveside services were Dec. 30 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, with Mark Gumm officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Clark Johnson

Clark B. Johnson of Auburn, Wash., died Dec. 24, 2011.

He was born in Gentry on June 4, 1930, to William and Iris (Loop) Johnson. He served in The U.S. Air Force from 1948 to his retirement in 1969. He was an aerial gunner flying B-29s from Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, into North Korea. He later flew B-26s in France, B-45s in England, B-36s in California and B-52s in Texas, Maine and New York. He was employed by Aptex, Huntington Rubber and by Boeing in Auburn.

He is survived by his two children, Steven and Jayne (Shawn) Flynn; seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

He was buried at Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington, Wash. Services were Dec. 30 at Price Helton Funeral Home in Auburn, Wash. Arrangements were by Price-Helton Funeral Home.

George "Ken" Kennedy

George Ronald “Ken” Kennedy, 79, of Gentry, died Dec. 20, 2011, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

He was born Feb. 1, 1932, in Pawtucket, R.I., to George Patrick Kennedy and Olive Harrison Kennedy. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He lived in Anchorage, Alaska, and Fontana, Calif., before moving to Gentry 34 years ago. He was a retired truck driver for McKee Foods in Gentry. He married Willa Marie Morris in Eureka Springs in 1999.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Tony Morris and wife Regina of Siloam Springs, Tim Morris of Gentry, and Clark Morris and wife Jenni of West Siloam Springs, Okla.; three daughters, Linda Carl and husband Steve, Janie Parks and husband Mike, all of Gentry, and Susan Morris of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 23 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Robin Cowin and Earl Stapleton officiating. Burial was at Gentry Cemetery in Gentry. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Beulah Killgore

Beulah Killgore, 81, of West Siloam Springs, Okla., died Dec. 29, 2011, at West Siloam Springs.

She was born July 13, 1930, in Childress, Tex., to Clifford Ray Howard and Beulah Mae Revees Howard. She married William “Art” Killgore in 1949. She and her husband moved to Sallisaw, Okla., in 1952 and to Brownlee, Neb., in 1954. In 1962 they moved to Hiwasse. She was a member of Hiwasse Christian Church. They moved to Rose, Okla., in 1995. She was a sales representative for Shaklee Products for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William “Art” Killgore; son Chip Killgore; two brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by two sons, Jiggs Killgore and wife Robin of Crossville, Tenn., and Hank Killgore and wife Marian of Tahlequah, Okla.; three brothers, Dan Howard and wife Dortha of Childress, Milton Howard of Childress, and Ray Howard of Texas; one sister, Fannie Thaten of Childress; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 2 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Hiwasse.

David Reed

David E. Reed, 75, of rural Maysville, died on Dec. 29, 2011, at home on his farm.

He was born on Dec. 23, 1936, in Greggton, Texas. He was a U.S. Armed Forces veteran who served a tour of duty in Korea. He was a farmer and also a carpenter and home builder in Siloam Springs. He worked as a plant electrician at La-Z-Boy and as a mechanic at McKee Foods for several years. He married his wife Jane on Jan. 26, 1979, and they have worked together on their farm gathering eggs and raising cattle for the past 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Woody Reed; and two brothers, Gerald Reed and Wilbur Reed.

He is survived by his wife Jane of the home; two daughters, Pennie Easter and husband Bill of Spavinaw, Okla., Shawn Lawrence-Reed and fiancé Rick Dimmitt, both of Siloam Springs; four grandchildren; two greatgrandsons; one sister, Arlene Farmer of Siloam Springs; and one brother, Dale Reed of West Siloam Springs, Okla.

A memorial service was held Jan. 2. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Mildred Smith

Mildred Pearl Smith, 88, of Rogers, formerly of Springdale, died Dec. 29, 2011, in Bentonville.

She was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Decatur, to Albert and Dora Henry Townzen. She retired from Daisy Manufacturing and was a member of the Colonial Baptist Church in Rogers.

She is preceded in death by her husband, H. Gregory Smith; and her brothers, Arthur, Charles, Howard, Bud, Ernie and Glen Townzen.

She is survived by her children, Wanda Cruse of the home and Connie Kincy and husband Dennis, both of Rogers, and Dale Smith of San Diego, Calif.; her brother, Leslie Townzen of Bentonville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 31 at the Colonial Baptist Church, Rogers, with Claud Slate officiating. Interment was at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.
