Watts Game

The Bulldogs lost a nonconference game against the Watts Okla. Engineers on Jan. 13 with a final score of 44 to 33.

The Bulldogs got into some foul trouble and had a few too many turnovers to win the game but competed very hard, according to Unger.

Freshman Mario Urquidi scored nine points and made five rebounds and three blocks. His twinbrother Victor Urquidi scored six points and made seven rebounds.

While the team has yet to win a game this season, they have been competitive and have come extremely close on more than one occasion.

Unger said that, overall, he is very pleased with his young team. The team may lack experience but they have plenty of talent and will only gain strength as time passes.

Mario Urquidi is one of the best freshmen in the state, averaging 10 to 11 points a game, Unger said. Junior high players Meng Vang and Kile Shaffer will move up to the senior high team next year for added strength

“It’ll be there in the next two years. They’ll be a pretty fun team to coach,” Unger said.
