— The Decatur Chamber of Commerce is holding a membership drive this month, chamber of commerce president David Flynt said at the January meeting.

Businesses and individuals in Decatur and surrounding areas are encouraged to join. Stacy Brooks pointedout that businesses do not have to be inside Decatur city limits to join. Other area businesses are welcome if they want to reach Decatur customers.

The cost for a business to join the chamber is $25, and $10 for individuals.

Chamber of Commerce members also set dates for the annual Easter egg hunt and started making plans for the Decatur HighSchool honors banquet at Thursday’s meeting.

The Easter egg hunt will be held at 10 a.m. April 7, the day before Easter Sunday, in Veterans Park.

Chamber members decided that the honors banquet, for Decatur High School seniors who are honor students or Arkansas scholars, will be held in the Decatur Community Building with the meat provided by the chamber andindividual members bringing potluck dishes.

The banquet has traditionally been held during the day, but Flynt suggested holding it in the evening so parents and grandparents could attend.

The banquet was tentatively scheduled for the evening of May 7, pending school approval.

High School graduation is set for May 11.
