Inez Berry
Inez M. Berry, of Lowell and formerly of Marvell, died Jan. 10, 2012, at Springdale.
She was born May 15, 1927, at Marvell, to Leroy L. and Mattie Lou Golden Guest. She was married to Harold Ray Berry on July 15, 1944.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 48 years; six brothers, Johnny, James, Homer, Zenella, C.W. and Winston Guest; two sisters, Maudie McDowell and Loma Ray.
She is survived by two children, Billy Ray Berry and wife Glenda of Gravette, and Carolyn Berry Richardson Sims and husband Harold of Lowell; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Roller Citizens Funeral Home of West Helena, on Jan. 14. Burial followed at Marvell Cemetery, Marvell. Arrangements were by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena.
Richard Burr
Richard William Burr, 85, of Bentonville, died Jan. 9, 2012, at the Concordia Health and Rehab in Bella Vista.
He was born in Herington, Kan., on April 27, 1926, to Richard Melvin Burr and Rosa Martha Greenwood Burr. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for the USDA as a resident poultry-grader and later was promoted to assistant state supervisor of graders for the state of Arkansas. He was a member of the Christian Church of Gravette and an active member of the Rogers VFW.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, Bob Holland.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Burr of the home; one brother, Robert Melvin Burr of Topeka, Kan.; twosons, Werner Gail Lehner and wife Katie, of Kansas, and James William Burr and wife Jeanne, of Missouri; four daughters, Marjean Lehner of Kansas, Pat Webb and husband Frank of Decatur, Candy Douglas and husband Robert of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Dianne Leeman and husband Russell of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Connie Cavness and husband John of Bentonville; two stepsons, Jerry Bertschy and wife Rosie of Pineville, Mo., and Joe Holland and wife Charlotte of Gentry; 13 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at the First Christian Church in Bentonville, with Don Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Dug Hill Cemetery in Bella Vista. Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.
Loyd Florer
Loyd Lincoln Florer, 92, of Springdale, died Jan. 10, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
He was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Terlton, Okla., to Albert L. Florer and Beulah Mae Hewitt Florer. He married Faye January on Feb. 24, 1942, in Siloam Springs. He lived most of his life in Maysville, where he was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was in the Pacific aboard the USS Nashville and USS Bushnell. The Nashville was an escort for the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo. He was a member of the VFW and a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Immanuel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Arthur Florer and wife Ruth Ann,of Springdale, DennisFlorer and wife Elizabeth Ann of Bentonville, and Wayne Florer and wife Kathryn Ann of Maysville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Florer and wife Margie of Boulder, Colo.; two sisters, Crystal Rae Haley of Siloam Springs and her husband George of Gravette, and Alberta Walls of Santa Maria, Calif.
Funeral services were Jan. 14 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Maysville, with Jim Alexander officiating. Burial followed at Maysville Cemetery, Maysville. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. David Nation
David Larry Nation, 64, of Springdale, died Jan. 9, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
He was born Jan. 13, 1947, in Sapulpa, Okla., to John Nation and Frieda Rivers Nation. He lived in Springdale most of his adult life. He was a lifetime cowboy and champion team roper. He was also a gospel singer. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a 4th Class Petty Officer and served four years in active duty and two in the reserve. He was employed by the city of Springdale as supervisor of signs and markings. He married Faye Rogers Bohall in Gravette in June, 2004. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Gravette.
Survivors include his wife Faye of the home; two daughters, one son; two step-sons, and one step-daughter; two brothers, John Ed Nation and wife DeeDee of Kellyville, Okla., and Donny Nation and wife Roboye of Hobart, Okla.
Funeral services were Jan. 13 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with C.H. Doss and Guy Durkee officiating. Burial was at Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.
Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
'J.W.' Pace
James Weaver “J.W.” Pace, 74, of Gravette, died Jan. 15, 2012, at the Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 22, 1937, in Gravette, to William and Marie (Bowles) Pace. He was raised in Gravette and was a graduate of Gravette High School. He attended the University of Arkansas. He married Pauline Claver in Tulsa, Okla.,on March 18, 1960. While living in Tulsa, he managed Goodyear Tire Company for 14 years and was active in the United States Air Force Reserves. He and Pauline returned to Arkansas to work on the family farm in 1974. He raised cattle, gathered eggs and owned and operated a feed and fertilizer business for many years. He served 10 years on the Gravette School Board and was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 48 years.
He is survived by his two children, Daryl Pace and wife Gina of Siloam Springs, and Pam Phillips of Gravette; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Sondra Smith of Racine, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Southwest City, with Ricky Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Maysville Cemetery in Maysville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Arrangements are by Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City.
