Gravette High hosts opening ACE match

— Gravette High School was host for the first match of the 2012 NWA High School Academic Competition (ACE) last Tuesday morning at the GHS Performing Arts Center.

Schools competing in the first one-hour match were West Fork, Lifeway Christian from Centerton and Gravette.

The high school student body filed into the PAC and enjoyed the spirited match between the three teams, composed of 12 students each.

When the final buzzer sounded, West Fork was declared winner with 44 points. Gravette and Lifeway Christian tied with 38 points each.

The competition continues through three series of matches among the 12 teams. Lincoln hosted Farmington and ShilohChristian on Jan 19; Siloam Springs was host for a match with Greenland and Fayetteville Jan. 24; and Decatur and Elkins travel to Bentonville this Thursday, Jan. 26, to complete the Series 1 matches.

On Feb. 2, Decatur and Siloam Springs will meet host team WestFork, and Gravette and Shiloh Christian go to Elkins in Series 2 matches.

Series 3 will see Decatur hosting the match for Gravette and Greenland on Valentine’s Day. This will end the local teams’ participation until finals which are scheduled in mid-March.
