Remember postage went up Monday, to 45 cents. It will cost you a penny more to mail a first-class letter.

There is so much sickness in our area. Please remember all the sick ones in your prayers.

A group of family and friends gathered a week ago Sunday evening to help Leon Carothers celebrate his birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Weihe spent a few days in Nebraska earlier this month. Bob Holloway filled the pulpit at the Nazarene Church in Larry’s absence.

In conference with my daily newspaper deliverer, we came to the conclusion someone has been taking my paper from my paper tube. If you will send in a subscription you could possibly get it delivered to your door and not have to get out in the cold to steal mine.

Jan. 18, 1778, Captain James Cook discovered theSandwich Islands, which we now know as Hawaii.

Bill and Billy Habermehl are at home after both of them spent some days in the hospital this week. Let’s remember the family in our prayers.

Sympathy is extended to Eric Coscia and the Coscia family for their loss.

Mr. and Mrs. Ward Carrier and I enjoyed lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Lofty Carrier on Sunday.

Maxine Holloway is spending a few days with her daughter, Carolyn Taylor, and family in Garfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Keith had a family dinner on Sunday to help their son Paul celebrate his birthday.

I hope everyone is soon feeling better and able to get out and do something newsy.

Jan. 25, 1924, winter games sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee were held in Chamonix, France. The games lasted 11 days and were later referred to as the first Winter Olympics.
