Rowe is installed president of local barbershop society

— David Rowe of Gravette was installed as president of the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society in a ceremony held Jan. 12 at Metfield Country Club in Bella Vista. The society is the largest a cappella men’s singing organization in America.

Rowe succeeds Jim Nugent, outgoing president, who presented the President’s Award to Pete Anderson in recognition of his seven years serving as chapter president.

Rob Sabata was chosen asBarbershopper of the Year for his efforts in coordinating the three venue performances with the Joplin and Springfield, Mo., chapters this past fall.

Music leadership awards were presented to D.J. Cameron, tenor; Brian Scott, lead; David Rowe, bass; and Ed Downey, baritone.
