The council discussed a Christmas lighting project for the city and authorized Mayor Byron Warren to seek additional estimates for the project which involves refurbishing existing lights and replacing incandescent bulbs with LED mini-lights, lighting for Centennial Park, downtown lighting, Kindley Park lighting, and lighting at Old Town Park. Estimateswill determine which parts of the long-range project will be considered at this time.

Warren was also authorized to negotiate for possible purchase of a small tract of land adjacent to Pop Allum Park.

A special council meeting will be held July 12, preceded by a public hearing at 6 p.m., concerning rezoning property on Highway 59 south of Beacon Baptist Church. Council action is expected to follow the public hearing.
