Gentry website getting face lift

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

— Thanks to a Walmart grant obtained by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce, the city of Gentry website has received a major facelift and additional work is yet under way.

The new site can be reached at gentryarkansas.us and gentryonline.us and will soon be accessible at cityofgentry.com, as well.

The site includes basic information for the city of Gentry, pages for city departments and entities, and links to other sites to place helpful information at users' fingertips, such as the Gentry Chamber, Gentry schools, local weather, burn bans and countyemergency information.

In addition to basic city information, two new features are planned and may soon be in place. One would make it possiblefor city residents to pay their water and sewer bills and library fines online through a third-party service provider already used by the city. A convenience fee would be charged by the third-party provider.

Another would give site users access to an electronic version of city code online. The city is having some corrections made to its code book before a digital copy will be ready for publication on the city website.

Work is being done on the new website by Randy Moll, who also edits the Westside Eagle Observer. Once the site is complete, Moll intends to offer training to city officials and employees on maintenance and update of the site.

The site was designed with ongoing expansion in mind. Additional information and pages can be added as needed, Moll said.
