Maysville E.H. Club meets

— Eight members were present for the June Maysville E.H. Club meeting. Katherine Tucker was the hostess for the noon meal. Orpha Wardlaw welcomed everyone and we recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Orpha gave the lesson which was on Entertainment without TV. Instead of spending time in front of the TV, try a low-cost or no-cost fun thing to do, such as being active together in your own backyard, at public parks or playgrounds - walk, run, hike, stretch, throw a frisbee, play basketball, ride a bike, roller skate or whatever you enjoy. You will have better health and are more likely to continue being active if you do it with others. Play cards or board games. Read books or tell stories. Bake bread or cookies. Plant flowers or avegetable garden. Do a community service project to benefit others. Start a hobby. Attend free concerts, lectures or museums.

A helpful hint was given to be sure and always use canned pineapple in Jell-O versus fresh, as fresh pineapple will prevent the Jell-O from setting.

Sylvia Tucker showed a pretty baby afghan she is crocheting. Gwen Singleton gave a report on the community yard sale. Bert Ballmann talked about the next senior fun day which will be July 5th. There was some discussion on the playground equipment which we are in hopes of getting. Gert gave a report on the items she has sold on eBay. The County Fun Day will be in July and we are to bring salads and sweetbreads. We voted to purchase a rug for the kitchen.
