MT. PLEASANT NEWS

— Mt. Pleasant Church was a little busy for the month of June. Howard and Cathleen Spears, Darlene and Louise McVay and I helped with the Care and Share grand opening. We worked hard and had a great time seeing the new store welcome its first customers. We wish Care and Share many years to come serving the folks of Western Benton County and Gravette.

We held a revival the week of June 10th. A blessing was received by all in attendance. Brother Paul Young, evangelist, brought very soul and thought stirring messages each night. Special music was presented each night. Just wish the revival could have lasted longer.

At the end of the week, Mt. Pleasant took our youth to the Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs. All enjoyed the play. Weston Stewart, one of our students, sat with me and asked a lot of questions. He was really into the play and wanted to know just what was happening and why. It's refreshing to see someone so young wanting to soak up the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord. Living here all my life and being to Eureka Springs numerous times, this was the first time I had seen the play. It was worth the trip and walking down the steps into the amphitheater. Coming out wasn't quite as easy.

Louise, Darlene and I spent the day in EurekaSprings on Friday, the 29th. The girls were looking for crystals. Found a few small ones. While we were there we had lunch with husband and grandpa, Alan Sanders. Alan was working in Eureka for the day. He said that it was a nice surprise. We had lunch at the Bean Palace and enjoyed a good meal.

On Sunday, July 1, the young girls presented a program in honor of the upcoming 4th of July. Under the direction of Gabra Stewart, Darlene and Louise McVay and Haylee Blount presented the Colors and the choir sang You're a Grand Old Flag. Our girls were so proud that they got to present this program and they did a fantastic job. Thanks, Gabra, for giving of your time and working with the girls.

If I've left anything out, I'll get it another time. The heat is getting to me, sapping my thought processes. It has almost taken my garden. However, I did get several pints of green beans canned before the rain stopped.

We all need to be extremely careful now as the threat of fire is very strong. I do believe most of Benton County is under a burn ban so please respect it. Don't be responsible for setting fires that might possibly burn someone’s house down.

Have a blessed week. Stay hydrated. Check on the elderly and make sure they are keeping cool. Pray for one another and our country. God Bless.

Happy birthday, Wilma Fladager. Love and miss you.
