— Will there still be fireworks today?

While Gentry's display in city park is on for tonight and bigger than ever, fireworks are not allowed in the city or county as long as the burn ban is in place.

All fireworks were banned inside Decatur city limits and a fireworks show planned as part of the Decatur Assembly of God's Freedom Festival on Tuesday night was canceled because of the drought conditions.

Fire chief David Flynt said banning fireworks was a difficult decision to make but said he felthe had to put the safety of the town first. Flynt said this is the first time since he has been fire chief that fireworks have been banned in Decatur because of weather conditions.

Gravette's fireworks display is scheduled as planned for this evening. Other fireworks (except aerial) will be allowed within the city during hours prescribed by city ordinance.

Sulphur Springs' fireworks display on Saturday has been cancelled. Other events scheduled for the day will be held.

Highfill has also banned all fireworks in the city, according to its sign at the fire department.
