Gravette Day plans announced

— Plans for Gravette’s 119th celebration scheduled August 9, 10 and 11 have been announced by the Gravette Chamber of Commerce, sponsoring organization for the annual event.

Dan Yates, chamber president, said the celebration will be held on three days this year and many of the activities have been moved to Old Town Park, the site of many celebrations during the town’s early history.

One new event will be a 5K run on Saturday morning. Information and entry forms for that and for the various pageants, including Miss Gravette, are available on the Chamber’s website (www.gravettearkansas.com) or by calling 787-8998.

Parade entry forms, entry forms for a talent contest,crafts, the poker run, vendor booths and general basic information are also available on the website or by calling 787-8998.

Following is the tentative schedule for each of the days' events, with possible revision as the celebration dates approach.

◊Archery Competition - August 9, starting at 6 p.m., Pop Allum Park;

◊Talent Contest - August 10, 6 p.m., Old Town Park;

◊Miss Gravette Pageant - August 10, 7 p.m., Gravette High School Performing Arts Center;

◊Softball Tournament - August 10 & 11, about 6 p.m. on August 10 and all day August 11, Pop Allum Park;

◊Crafts - All day August 11 in Old Town Park;

◊Gravette Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast - August 11, starts at 6:30, Gravette Middle School Cafeteria;

◊5K Run - August 11,starts at 7 a.m., at 205 Main St. SE;

◊Poker Run - August 11, starts at 8 a.m., in front of In-Zone Restaurant;

◊Gravette Day Parade - August 11, starts at 10 a.m., lineup on Charlotte Street from Middle School parking lots to Hwy. 59. Ends at Old Town Park;

◊Food and Entertainment - August 11, Old Town Park;

◊Crowning of Miss Gravette - August 11, 11 a.m. in Old Town Park;

◊Tiny Tots Pageant - August 11, 11:30 a.m., Old Town Park;

◊Children’s Entertainment, Pony rides, rock wall, slides, bounce areas, etc. - August 11, Old Town Park;

◊Band in the Park - August 11, around noon, Old Town Park; and

◊Street Music on Main Street (Ripped Pigeon Band) - August 11, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
