MT. PLEASANT — July, fireworks, hot dogs, watermelon, playing in the creek and Vacation Bible School. Churches around our area have had or are having vacation Bible school this month.

We at Mt. Pleasant had our version of vacation Bible school, Kids’ Day, on Saturday the 14th. With the heat we have been having, I wasn't too optimistic on having many children. Boy, was I surprised! I walked into a house full. This was fantastic. Our students had Bible study, arts and crafts, a great pizza lunch and a lot of fun.At the end of the day of scheduled learning, we were entertained by the White Mouse Puppets. This is a group of volunteers from various churches that put on a puppet show with a Christian theme. We all had a great time Saturday and look forward to next year. I believe we had about 30 children in attendance.

Mt. Pleasant has been invited to Cave Springs First Baptist Church for our fifth Sunday singing. We have been preparing with a couple of beautiful songs. Come join usat Cave Springs and enjoy an evening of singing praises to the Lord.

Mt. Pleasant will be taking over the helm at Care and Share at the end of the month. Hope to see you there.

Last Monday, Gravette lost a very special man. Dr. Billy V. Hall, a quiet and humble fixture of Gravette, passed away after an illness. He will be greatly missed, but the memories of who he was and what he did for Gravette will last forever. One of my favorite memories of him of the past few years was him at Spike's restaurant on beans and corn bread night. He seemed to really enjoy a very simple fare of beans and corn bread. He never seemed to walk anywhere, always on the run but never too busy to say hello. Goodbye, Dr. Hall, you are loved and missed. But you are in a far better place where you are whole again and visiting with many friends and loved ones who left before you.
