— Ruby Davis

Ruby Davis, 89, of Manhattan, Kan., and longtime Gentry resident, died July 11, 2012, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.

She was born March 29, 1923, at Minatare, Neb., to Alex and Elizabeth Schafer Meininger. She worked side-by-side with her husband, Gene Davis, until his death three years ago. She was a Christian, enjoyed gardening, cooking and serving others

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Dianne Dickie; three brothers, Clarence Meininger, Joe Meininger and Elmer Meininger; and one granddaughter, Heidi Dickie.

Survivors include one daughter and two sonsin-law, Elaine and Eric Wisdom of Manhattan, and Jim Dickie of Paola, Kan.; one brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Kay Meininger of Scottsbluff, Neb.; four sisters, Ruth Johnson and Freida Minch, both of Scottsbluff, Rosie Benzel of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Bertha Smith of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were July 14 at the Colbaugh Church, near Hindsville, with Jim Dickie officiating. Interment was at the Colbaugh Cemetery, near Hindsville. Arrangements were by Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.

Indi Ann Fink, 60, of Gravette, died at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, July 6, 2012.

She was born July 5, 1952, in Nashville to Roy and Lena White. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Leann and Earl Vick of Gravette, Angela Cowan of Bentonville; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Roy White of Rogers, and Doug White of Owasso, Okla.; and Gary Fink, a lifelong friend and companion, of Catoosa, Okla.

Memorial services were July 14 at Eagle Heights Baptist Church in Bentonville.

Charles Hovey

Charles Hovey, 89, of Springdale, died July 6, 2012, at his home in Elm Springs.

He was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Clayton, N.M., the youngest child of Charles Hovey and Bessie Terry Hovey. He lived in Clayton through high school, until joining the service. He graduated from the College of the Ozarks with his doctorate in pharmacy. He and his wife, Katy, went on to coown and operate Joyce’s Drug Store and co-own, then own, City Pharmacy in Springdale. He retired at age 62 and continued to practice part time in Gentry at Smith Drug. He was an active member of St. Raphael Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Katy) Hovey; and his four sisters, Charlene Hovey Martin, Junita Hovey Jenkins, Jessie Hovey Thompson, Elenora Hovey Sumners; and grandson, Joseph Fears.

Survivors include one son, Ronnie Hovey and his wife Wan of Mountain Home; one daughter,Cheryl Fears and her husband Roy of Springdale; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The Mass of the Christian Burial was July 16. The burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Shirley Huggins

Shirley Jean Huggins, 76, of Gentry, died June 20, 2012, at her home.

She was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Tulsa, Okla., to William Chapman and Lois Martin Chapman. The family lived in Broken Arrow, Okla., for 28 years. They settled in Gentry after having lived in Rogers, Yellville and Harrison. She married Ronald E. Huggins in Huntsville on June 13, 1951.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Chris Huggins and wife Ann of Siloam Springs, and Kelly Huggins of Tennessee; one daughter, Ronda Williams and husband Bill of Lowell; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A private family service was held. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Jacob ‘Jake’ Wages

Jacob “Jake” Allen Wages, 23, died July 6, 2012, in Joplin, Mo.

He was born June 28, 1989, in Rogers. He graduated from Neosho (Mo.) High School in 2008 and lived most of his life in Gravette and in Joplin. He was currently employed at Aegis in Joplin, and was an avid hunter, motorcycle and dirt bike enthusiast. He played football and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Olen Dyer; and step-paternal grandfather, Estis Ragland.

He is survived by his parents, Tim and DiAnna Wages of Neosho, and Jackie and David Thomas of Pea Ridge; two sisters, Sarah Wages of Pea Ridge, and Jodi Bond of Neosho; two brothers, Nicholas Wages of Lewistown, Ill., and Austin Bond of Neosho; maternal grandparents, Faye and Al Blair of Gravette; paternal grandparents, Jim and Euella Powell of Watts, Okla., and Roger and Lisa Wages of Fayetteville; and a step-paternal grandmother, Janette Ragland of Goodman, Mo.

A memorial service was held July 12 at Splitlog Baptist Church, Goodman, with Chad Pendergraft officiating. Arrangements were by Clark Funeral Home in Neosho.
