Plant earns safety award

— James L. Salkeld, Director of the Arkansas Department of Labor, announced that Flint Creek Power Plant, located in Gentry, is the recipient of a Two Million Work Hours Safety Award.

The plant is co-owned by AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) and Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. (AECC) and operated by SWEPCO.

Flint Creek employees have accumulated 2,000,000 work hours without a lost day away from work due to a workrelated injury or illness between October 1996 and July 2012. The plant has 69 employees.

The company has a safety program in effect and asafety committee made up of both employees and management.

There will be an award ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on July 26 at the plant. The plant location is 21797 SWEPCO Plant Road, Gentry.
