Gravette High Booster Club seeking support

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

— “We want to thank the GHS Boosters for supporting our athletic programs through their monetary participation in the auctions held during the recent Athletic Achievement Banquet. Over $6,000 was raised!” said Jheri Roberts, Lion Pride President.

Roberts said that, due to the large number of seniors graduating, the parent support of the Booster Club programs has dropped significantly.

“Now we need your expertise and involvement,” Roberts said. “A large number of the majority of the board positions will be vacated and the number of parent volunteers has been reduced to a critical level. In order to maintain and grow our commitments to the Booster Club sponsored activities, we need a large group of parents to step up and get involved.”

There are two Booster Club organizations that support Gravette High School athletic programs: Gravette Lion Pride, Inc., and Gravette AthleticBoosters, Inc. The latter organization is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Officer and member positions for both organizations will be decided at the next monthly meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. June 11, in Coach Harrelson’s Health classroom.

“Even if you do not want to serve in an officer capacity, your attendanceis not only requested but desperately needed as committee interest assignments will also be discussed at this meeting,” Roberts said.

Athletic Boosters and Lion Pride sponsored activities from previous years include: Football Pride Night; four $1,000 scholarships to graduating senior athletes; meal expenses forathletes traveling to statequalifying events; various equipment and apparel for members of the cheer, basketball, football, baseball, softball, track, golf and volleyball teams; rings for winners of state events; T-shirts for district and regional winners; athletic achievement banquet and awards; athletic publicity expenses; and more.

“All interested adult family members and friends are encouraged to attend the next meeting and getinvolved,” Roberts said.

Questions about the various opportunities for service and officer positions may be addressed to any current Booster Club officer, including: Alicia Bayley, John Chevallier, Skeeter Daniels, Bobby Galyean, Eddie Greenhaw, Steve Huckriede, Ross Lockhart, Mike Meek, Bob Moorman, Teresa Moorman, Stephanie Parrish, Jheri Roberts, Mary Strzelecki and Rocky Strzelecki.
