Decatur man arrested for assault

— Isaac Hinojosa, 29, of Decatur, was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly attacking another man with a tire iron in the parking lot of the Simmons Foods plant in Decatur.

Police received a call around9:50 p.m. that two Hispanic males were fighting in the Simmons Foods plant parking lot on West Roller Avenue.

Hinojosa allegedly attacked Ivan Pedroza and his girlfriend Covina Agular while they were sitting inside Pedroza’s car and talk-ing, according to a report from the Decatur Police Department. Agular later told police that Hinojosa was her ex-boyfriend and the father of her children and that they had broken up about three weeks prior to the incident, the report states.

Hinojosa allegedly approached the car and began yelling and cursing for Pedroza to get out. Pedroza told police that while he was calling 911, Hinojosa took a four-way tire iron and smashed out the driver side window, the report states.

Pedroza told police that Hinojosa continued trying to hit him but kept hitting the frame of the car window instead.

Both men had cuts fromthe broken glass and Pedroza had a large bruise on his arm from blocking the blows from the tire iron, the report stated. Both of the injured men refused medical treatment, the report states.

Hinojosa was being held without bond in the Benton County Jail on charges of assault and battery, criminal mischief and assault on a family or household member.
