Flag disposal ceremony set for Tuesday, June 19

— Gravette American Legion Post will conduct a flag retirement ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, on the grounds behind the Civic Center in Gravette.

A retirement ceremony is held to dispose of tattered, worn and damaged American Flags through procedure outlined for such purpose.

Persons who have flags they wish to dispose of may take them to the Gravette City Hall. Arkansas state flags or others may also be disposed of during the same ceremony.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and sodas will be served to persons who maywish to attend the event.

American Legion members and members of the Gravette Boy Scout Troop have assisted in the ceremony in past years.

Other officers recently elected for the Post are Mike Russow, Vice Commander; Bob Moore, Finance Officer; Rose Crose, Chaplain; and J.R. Gibbs, Adjutant/Child Welfare.

The Legion meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month in the Gravette Civic Center. All area veterans are encouraged to attend and be a part of veterans’ service organization, Gibbs said.
