DECATUR — Simmons Chicken Store opened in Decatur last week, according to Simmons Foods purchasing agent Jimmy Dickenson, who manages the store.

In the past, Simmons Foods has held special events where employees and growers could buychicken off a truck. The store will make those offers available to the public on a daily basis, Dickenson said.

The new company store currently offers four types of frozen Simmons’ chicken products - including boneless chicken breasts, chicken tenders, fajita meat and wing pieces - in five pound bags.

“Hopefully, if the community and area supports us, we’ll expand and offer a full complement (of products),” Dickenson said.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, but Dickenson said he would like to open the store on the weekend hours in the future - if there is enough demand. For more information, call 752-3024.
