— Fire last Thursday afternoon at 13304 Beaty Road west of Gravette destroyed a residence and heavily damaged an outbuilding.

According to officials with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the frame home was completely destroyed. A grass fire caused by the blaze also burned about an acre of surrounding land.

David Smith, Gravette fire chief, said the Gravette FireDepartment was notified about 12:30 p.m. and by the time the department arrived the home was totally engulfed.

Fire departments from Maysville and Decatur assisted in controlling the resulting grass fire, preventing its spread by a strong wind to nearby residences.

There were no injuries to the residents, Stephanie and Jesse Parris, according to authorities.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
