Chamber plans Easter event, awards banquet

— This year’s Decatur Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt will be held on April 7, chamber members said at the March 5 meeting.

The egg hunt will be held at 10 a.m. in Veteran’s Park. Chamber of Commerce President David Flynt said that the plastic eggs have already been purchased.

Members discussed plans for loading the eggs with candy and hiding them.

The chamber will also hold a banquet for graduating honor students and Arkansas scholars at 6 p.m., May 7. The menu will include smoked brisket and pork loin, purchased from the Hollywood Cafe in Gravette, Flynt said. Chamber of commerce members will provide potluck style side dishes for the event.

This is the first year thebanquet will be held in the evening and family members will be invited. Students are limited to six guests in addition to themselves and are asked to RSVP by April 1.

The chamber of commerce will also be awarding two scholarships, to the class valedictorian and salutatorian this year, Flynt said.

The next chamber of commerce meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m., April 2, at the Gallery Cafe.
