Gentry blasts West Fork

Big innings give Pioneers huge win on Friday

— The Gentry Pioneers baseball team won Friday's non-conference game against the West Fork Tigers by a score of 12-2.

Gentry jumped ahead in the bottom of the first, picking up two runs. When West Fork struck back and picked up a run in the second, Gentry added another in the third when Kolby Rankin beat the throw and slid across home plate.

West Fork scored its second and last run of the game in the fourth but Gentry blew the game wide open by driving another six runners across the plate in the bottom of the inning. The Pioneers sealed their victory when they addedanother three in the bottom of the fifth.

Rankin led the Pioneers with three hits. Chris Wiand had two.

Josh Sewell picked up two RBIs. Wiand, Tanner Coy and Tristan Glass each had one.

Nelson Watson and Chris Wiand pitched in the game, with Watson credited with the win.
