— Byron Bristol

Byron Bristol, 98, died at his home in Sulphur Springs on March 1, 2012.

He was born in North Dakota in 1913. He studied sculpture in Boston, Mass., where he met fellow artist Esther Boston. They married in 1937 and embarked on a life of adventure creating art, sailing, traveling the world and raising two daughters. They became Christians in the 1970s and established a ministry for college students in Gainesville, Fla. In 1983 they established Harbor House in Sulphur Springs as a place of refuge for God’s people.

He was preceded in death by his wife Esther, in 2009. He is survived by one daughter, Norma Fischer of Belgium, and two grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., April 1, at Harbor House. Cremation arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Elizabeth Dennis

Elizabeth Ann (Leep) Dennis, 65, of Springdale, died March 5, 2012, at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale.

She was born March 21, 1946, in Joplin, Mo., to Jessie Dale Leep and Audrey Jeanetta (Points) Leep. She enjoyed arts and crafts and working in home health care.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jeanetta (Hurd) Fargo and husband Ed of Franklin, Tenn., and Samantha (Hurd) Kirkpatrick and husband Kevin of Acworth, Ga.; three grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Leep of Gravette and Deborah Baker of Rogers; a brother, Dallas Leep and wife Sandi of Springdale.

Memorial services were held March 7 at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel in Springdale, with Joe Dorman officiating.

Lurana Duncan

Lurana Wofford Duncan, 91, lifetime resident of Colcord, Okla., died March 9, 2012, at the Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville.

She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Delaware County, Okla., to Sampson Wofford and Eunice Kirby Wofford. She was the cook at Lou’s Café in Sandusky, Okla., and a homemaker. She was a member of Church of Christ in Colcord.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin; one son, Rick Bond; and two brothers, Coy and Earl Wofford.

Survivors include three sisters, Alene Wayt of Raytown, Mo.; Ruth Cross and husband David of Colcord; Colene Philpott and husband Van of Decatur; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Colcord Church of Christ, with Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Row Cemetery in Colcord.

Travis Ellis

Travis Andrew Ellis, 23, of Colcord, Okla., died March 5, 2012, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs.

He was born Jan., 24, 1989, in Gravette, to Larry Dale Ellis and Juanita Louise Brown Ellis. He was a lifetime resident of Colcord and enjoyed bowling and playing games. He was involved with the Delaware County Friendship Home and was a member of the Colcord Church of Christ in Colcord.

Survivors include his parents; one brother, Mike Ellis and wife Missy of Colcord; four sisters, Becky Farris and husband Will of Colcord, Angie Goucher and husband Grant of Siloam Springs, Joneta Dandridge of Stilwell, Okla., and Traci Gideon of Anderson, Mo.

Funeral services were March 11 at Colcord Church of Christ, with Bruce Potter and Steve Stenzel officiating. Burial followed at Dickson Cemetery, near Cherokee City. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Carroll Fultz-Fancher

Carroll Gene Fultz-Fancher, 74, died March 6, 2012.

He was born Aug. 23, 1937. He worked in maintenance for both the agriculture industry and later the Huntsville School District. He was active in the Madison County civil service as a storm watcher amateur radio operator and was an avid handyman, often working to better people’s lives at the Huntsville Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Crump Fancher and Nora Conner Ushrey; his parents, Ralph Fultz-Fancher and Cora Waldrop-Fultz; and a younger brother, Larry Leon Fancher.

He is survived by six siblings, Carson Fultz of Bella Vista, Daniel Fultz of Ozark, Mo., Mary Varney, Pat Cunha and Gayle Folliard of California, and Margaret Zemak of Washington.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Fultz of the home; five children, Laura Foster and Karen Buth of Bentonville, Betty Gregory of Branson, Mo., David Fultz of Gentry, and John Fultz of Perryville; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held March 9 at Gobbler Cemetery in Carroll County. Arrangements were by Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Wendell Pierce

Wendell Pierce, 82, of Gentry, died at his home on March 5, 2012.

He married Twila (Allen) Pierce on March 30, 1957. He served his country in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge.

He is survived by his wife, Twila of the home; one son, Ron Pierce of Gentry; one daughter, DeAnna Whiteside and husband David of Texas; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Private family services were held. Arrangements were by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory of Rogers.
