— James ‘Mousey’ Matlock

James Milton Matlock, Jr., 75, of Rogers, died at his home on April 26, 2012.

He was born in Gravette on June 10, 1936, to James Milton Matlock, Sr., and Ora (Rotrammel) Matlock. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church and retired from Keathley Patterson Electric Company in Springdale. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and his dog, Moses.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Matlock; children, Vicki Safarik of Rogers, Carrie Gildehaus and husband John of Bentonville, Bill Matlock and wife Kellee of Bryant; sister, Bonnie Powers of Rogers; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 30 at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers. Interment followed at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home.

Marlene VanDyke

Marlene Lou VanDyke, 76, of Siloam Springs, died April 23, 2012, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab.

She was born Jan. 5, 1936, in Bird City, Kan., to John Wesley VanDyke and Christina Neidig VanDyke. She was a lifetime resident of the Decatur and Siloam Springs area.

Survivors include two brothers, Gayland Van-Dyke and wife Beryl of Decatur, and Lonnie Van-Dyke and wife Georgia of Eufaula, Okla.; one sister, Wanda Sparks of Grove, Okla.

Graveside services were April 26 at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur with Larry Ellis officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

James ‘Jim’ Watson

James “Jim” William Watson, 78, of Gravette, died April 22, 2012, in Bentonville.

He was born in Pea Ridge on Jan. 21, 1934, to William Henry and Lena (Scott) Watson. He served in the United States Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge. He worked in security and enjoyed fishing, water skiing, gardening, listening to jazz and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy Watson; and one brother, John Watson.

He is survived by one son, James William Watson, Jr., and wife Shawna of Oklahoma; one adopted son, Rik Watson of Missouri; five daughters, Sherri Wellbourne of Florida, Deborah Watson of Oklahoma, Karen Sidner and husband David of Oklahoma, Tiffany Watson of Missouri, Julane Watson-Bartley and husband Dustin of Bella Vista; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 25 at the Bella Vista Community Church in Bella Vista, with Anna Teel officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette with military honors. Arrangements were by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory of Rogers.
