Posters part of 'Cover the Night' movement

— Numerous downtown building fronts in Gravette were covered with posters sometime during the night of April 20 as part of a nationwide “Cover the Night” project for a movement which has grown out of a recent movie, “Kony 2012,” by the non-profit “Invisible Children.”

The posters, and several large banners hung from buildings, were to call attention to an international movement to “find” Joseph Kony, leader of a guerilla group in the African country of Uganda and othercentral African countries.

Kony has been condemned by many world leaders for his suspected crimes, especially involving children, and the “movement” seeks his removal in 2012.

Participating were about 15 students from Gravette school, said Sayer Smith, one of the organizers of the group.

Smith said the group was disappointed many of the red posters were removed so quickly by someone Sunday (some by wind). Plans had been made to remove all of them and all of the banners by Tuesday of last week.
