Area seniors to graduate Friday, more on May 26th

Decatur and Gentry graduation ceremonies set for Friday evening

— It’s time once again for high school graduations, with Gentry and Decatur having graduation exercises on Friday and Gravette on May 26.

Approximately 75 Gentry seniors will receive diplomas during graduation ceremonies this Friday at Bill George Arena on the campus of John Brown University in Siloam Springs. Speaker for the commencement exercises will be Cheryl Hull, a former graduate of Gentry High School.

Decatur graduates - approximately 26 of them - will also receive their diplomas on Friday in graduation exercises at 7:30 p.m. in the Lloyd Peterson Gymnasium on the campus of the high school. Lensey Watson will be valadictorian and Fatima Vazquez, the salutatorian. Decatur will hold abaccalaureate service at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Decatur First Baptist Church.

Gravette graduates will be honored on the morning of Saturday, May 26, in 10 a.m. ceremonies in the Lions’ football stadium - inside the competition gym in the event of rain. Approximately 120 seniors will receive diplomas. Speakers will be the top-honor students and high school principal Jo Ellen Hastings.

Gravette’s awards assembly will be held in the high school’s performing arts center at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16. Gentry held its scholarship awards night on Monday, and Decatur on Tuesday.

Commencement ceremonies are also set for 9 p.m., May 26, at Ozark Adventist Academy. Further information on the number of graduates and speakers was not yet received at press time.
