— Saturday, May 12, is the postal service’s pickup day for the food bank. Leave a bag with a few cans of food near your mailbox for your carrier to pick up and deliver.

Linda Fisher has spent a few days with her mother, Ruby Hight, and her brothers, Gene Roberts and Johnny and Donny Hight.

Stephen Joe McGinnis, who formerly lived in the area, passed away last week. Several of you may remember him from school. Sympathy is extended to the family.

Sympathy is extended to the Meade family. A lot of us remember the tender care Frances gave her patients.

Last Sunday Vickie Thomas and Bonnie Bivens attended church with Karen Burns. After church theypicked up Sally Albright and after enjoying lunch at Bob Evan’s Cafe they toured Crystal Bridges.

Karen Burns enjoyed a visit with her college roommate and her granddaughter one day this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Ward Carrier, Gabe Carrier and I enjoyed lunch with DaleLynn and Lamarise Carrier on Sunday.

Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamilton drove to Westville, Okla., to attend Robert’s 50th high school anniversary. On Saturday they drove back to attend the all-school reunion.

May 9, 1754, in response to French military action on the western frontier, Ben Franklin printed in the Pennsylvania Gazette his “Join or Die” illustration depicting a snake cut into pieces. It was America’s first political cartoon.
