Library to host event on William Quantrill

Gentry Public Library will host the very first special collections event ever held at a public library based solely on Confederate guerrilla leader William Quantrill, his guerrillas and the Kansas-Missouri border wars as a whole.

The "Quantrill SpecialCollections Research" will open to the public at a special event set for 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 19, with a follow-up presentation, "Quantrill / Northwest Arkansas: Bound By Battle," set for 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 21.

This collection and event is sanctioned by the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee andis comprised from many sources that have been donated - books, stories, articles, documents, CDs and more - to help build this into an educational asset for the four corner areas of Benton, Washington, Madison and Carroll counties in northwest Arkansas.

Its purpose is to change Civil War history in Arkansas forever by revealing new history and information to the area and giving educators, students and the general public a new chapter to the educational future.

The "Bound By Battle" presentation will be an eye-opening and stunning talk on research that has taken place over a twoyear period. It promisesto unveil information that will change northwest Arkansas Civil War history forever and bring the Kansas-Missouri border wars right to Arkansas’ doorstep!

Information from the presentation will be handed out for the public’s benefit to add to their own personal research or files.
