GENTRY — Three Gentry Odyssey of the Mind teams competed at the state competition on March 31, with the two teams from Gentry Intermediate School placing in the top four and the Middle School team taking first.

Finishing in third place was GIS team Kaiden Thrailkill, Brently Wade, Danielle Spencer, Laney Fredrick, Trevor Green and Jaslyn Dalrymple. Finishing in fourth place was GIS team Ashley Guess, Gavin Taylor, Alyssa Smith, Taylor Glass, Paige Wood, Brandon Swinney and Cory Hockenberry.

The Gentry Middle School team finished in first place and will go on to compete in the WorldFinals May 23 -26 in Ames, Iowa.

Fundraisers are under way to help raise money for the trip. On Wednesday, May 9, a chicken and spaghetti luncheonis planned. On Saturday, May 12, the team will host a community yard sale.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problemsolving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.
