Gentry students move up

— It was promotion day on Friday for 125 eighthgrade students at Gentry Middle School.

After a slide show with photos of each student, the class marched into the auditorium, heard brief messages from several student speakers, saw award plaques presented to a number of outstanding fellow students and received academic medallions and diplomas.

Student Mallory Morris led the students and their guests in prayer and later spoke of her hope and prayer that her classmates would continue on the right course through their high school years. Other student speakers included Sydney Hodges, Hannah Rabb, Rebecca Martin, Josie Barrick and Lauren Little.

Gentry Middle School principal Larry Cozens welcomed family members and friends and closed the ceremonies. Diplomas andacademic medallions were presented by Gentry School superintendent Randy Barrett and school board member Randall Bolinger.

A reception, courtesy of the Gentry Middle School Booster Club, followed the promotion ceremony.
