Free lunches available in Gravette, Sulphur Springs

— Free lunches will be served by the Gravette Public Schools during the summer break, said Jason Carter, Director of Food Services at the school.

“Beginning Monday, June 4, lunch will be served at two locations, the Glenn Duffy Elementary School cafeteria in Gravette and at the Shiloh kitchen in Sulphur Springs,” Carter said.

The program is open to all children regardless of whether or not they attend school in Gravette.

“Any child, age 18 and under, may receive one lunch per day at no cost,”Carter said. After a child has received his or her daily free meal, subsequent meals that day are available at a cost of $2.25.

Adults over the age of 18 may also purchase a meal at either of these sites for $3, the director added.

Persons who want information or who would like to consider volunteering their services for the program may contact Carter at jason.[email protected].

In addition to the Gravette schools feeding program this summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Gravette, Siloam and Bella Vista will be providing summer meals to their members.

Chris Shimer of the Boys & Girls Club, explained, “We have been awarded two grants of $3,000 each for our Siloam Springs and Gravette units. The grants will be used to provide scholarships for our summer program to families in need. Our hope is to expand our summer programs in the western Benton County area and in turn provide these children with a breakfast and lunch and help Arkansas No Kid Hungry Campaign reach its goal!”

To sign up your child for a membership, contact Kyle Scogin at Gravette, [email protected], or Carol Collins at ccollins@ bgcbetoncounty.org for Bella Vista.
