— Frances Bolin

Frances Marie Bolin, 90, of Gentry, died May 22, 2012, at the Golden Girls Retirement Manor, Siloam Springs.

She was born May 26, 1921, in Gentry, to Clement Jay Test and Jessie M. Glass Test. She was a retired beautician. She attended First Christian Church of Gentry and was a member of the First Christian Women’s Fellowship, 50-plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and past secretary of Gentry OES. She married Roy O. Bolin on Aug. 18, 1940.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edward and Joe Test; and by her grandson, Samuel Jay Bolin II.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Roy O. Bolin of Gentry; two sons, Jim Bolin and wife Jean of Newmarket, Ontario, and Sam Bolin and wife Sue of Springdale; one daughter, Donna David and husband Owen of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were May 26 at First Christian Church in Gentry, with Danny Bice officiating. A private burial was held. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Thomas Gunter

Thomas Carl Gunter, 62, of Decatur, died May 24, 2012, at his home.

He was born Nov. 20, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo., to Ralph F. Gunter and Frances Hopkins Gunter. He was a truck driver for Simmons Energy Solutions. He married Peggy Philpott on April 16, 1977, in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife Peggy of the home; two sons, Jason Gunter of Gentry, and Joey Gunter and wife Kristeena of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were May 29 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Nick Braschler officiating. Burial followed at Falling Springs Cemetery, near Decatur. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

James Hendrix

James “Jim” Alick Hendrix, 94, of Gentry, died May 25, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

He was born June 4, 1917, in Crowell, Texas, to James Marvin Hendrix and Dilla Cansora Cawthron Hendrix. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Vaughn and the Elks Club in Rogers. He married Emma Mae Moyer in Yuma, Ariz.

Survivors include his wife Emma of Gentry; two sons, Jimmy Lee Hendrix and wife Earlene of Allen, Texas, and Dale A. Hendrix and wife Angie of Gentry; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Douglas Cemetery, east of Highfill, with Russ Hall officiating. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Vassar Hoyle, Jr.

Vassar Verdell Hoyle, Jr., 81, of Bentonville, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

He was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Poteau, Okla., to Vassar Verdell Hoyle, Sr., and Annie Laura Palmer Hoyle.

He was married to Olivia Mae Haas for almost 50 years, until her death in 1993. He was a minister for 60 years, serving in churches in Madil, Okla., Cherryville, Van Buren, Springfield, Centerton, Decatur, Rogers, McGhee, Warren, and was chaplain for Springfield, Mo., Police, Desha Co. and Bradley Co. Arkansas Police. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal and was honorably discharged in 1948. He enjoyed mowing on his Grasshopper lawnmower, shooting guns and playing dominos.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lattie and Wallace Hoyle; and two sisters, Louise Hargrove and Kathryn Gueis.

He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Smith and husband Gary of Bentonville; and three grandchildren.

Services were May 25 at Western Hills Baptist Church in Bentonville, with Rob Matney officiating. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Carol Riley

Carol Jean Riley, 46, of Watts, Okla., died May 18, 2012, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab, Siloam Springs.

She was born May 20, 1965, in Siloam Springs, to Johnny Erickson and Jerry Ann Nickens. She was a lifetime resident of Moseley, Okla., and was a1983 graduate of Colcord, High School. She was a line worker for Day Spring Greeting Card Company. On June 25, 1982, she married Robert Riley.

Survivors include her husband Robert of the home; one daughter, Shannae Rippey and husband Charlie of West Siloam Springs, Okla.; two sons, Jake Riley and wife Lacey of Gentry, and Zachary Riley of the home; six grandchildren; one brother, John Erickson of Watts, Okla.; three sisters, Johnna Sue Wilson of Tahlequah, Okla., Debbie Williams of Siloam Springs, and Cindy Leonard of Flint Ridge, Okla.

Funeral services were May 22 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Ronnie Bradshaw officiating. Burial followed at Allen Cemetery, Moseley. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Karen Taylor

Karen Renee Taylor, 49, of Siloam Springs died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.

She was born Feb. 5, 1963. She was a dental assistant for many years.

She is survived by three children, including Taylor Barron of Gentry.

Arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
