Pool opening delayed in Gravette

— Installation of new filters at the Gravette municipal pool resulted in a delay of the announced pool opening which was scheduled May 23.

“The pool will reopen in early June; we hope the first week in June,” said Allyson Ransom, city communications director. “We are just waiting for final inspection by the State Department of Health.”

Hours the pool will be open for public swimming will be from noonto 6 p.m. each Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Gate admission is $1 for children age 10 and under, $2 for those older and adults. Individual swim passes cost $50, with family passes available for $100 for up to five people plus $10 for additional members. Boys and Girls Club members receive a $10 discount on passes with proof of summer membership.

Free swimming for adults, age 50 and older, will be held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m.

Swimming lessons will be scheduled Monday through Friday mornings. Check the city website, www.cityofgravette.com, for information on classes, costs and times.

Evenings are reserved for parties and groups of up to 25 or 50 people. Costs vary depending on numbers and the length of time. Information is available at the pool or at the city’s website.

The city spokesperson expressed appreciation for understanding the delay in the pool opening with the wish for all to support and enjoy the pool this summer.
