GRAVETTE — Brian Smithers, a student at Gravette High School,was a member of a three-student team which won first place in the Arkansas All-State Quiz Bowl tournament held recently in Beebe.
Smithers, a sophomore at GHS, was randomly paired with two other students, one from Fort Smith, the other from Watson Chapel, to compete as teammates in the intense competition.
Brian is the son of Mary and John Smithers of Gravette. As a state champion he received a cash award of $200.
