OPINION? EVERYBODY HAS ONE: Eat a plenty and enjoy the day!

Now you know the rest of the story! Election ads are gone, neighbors are no longer yelling obscenities over the yard fences and we are gonna continue to take our licks, however they come. I sure am happy that I know who is in control, and it might surprise some men to figure out who He is!

I took some of the Grands deer hunting on Youth Day. It was a real good time for all of us and one of them got a deer. Two of them got a good shot in, but Bambi took off like a rabbit! I enjoyed the day more than any of them because I was the grandfather. That title gives a feller the right tosoak up all that goes on. I took in the squabbles for the window seat, the disagreement about the cold drinks, the tales of football games and one girlfriend dilemma. I know what the school cafeteria serves that is “yucky” and what is good and who to sit with that is not opposed to good manners!

The hunt was all fun and games until it was time to hang the carcass and skin it. The work was a surprise to the Grands, but they hung tough and we got the job done. We hauled the carcass to the locker plant for the cutand wrap. I no longer have a desire to do that! My close relative was prepared when we returned home, cookies and hot cocoa and a big glass of iced tea for me!

I got all the calves on the ground from the fall calvers. We had 100 percent for a little while and then lost two. I stayed with them pretty close, but you cannot prevent some of the maladies that happen. I have been thinking about dosing the new ones with medication that should deter the pneumonia crisis. It seems to be pretty high-dollar until I lose acouple of them, then the stuff looks lots cheaper!

The fellers at the feed store were talking about the elections and Thanksgiving. Most of us are gonna stay close to home. Gas prices have dropped a little, but still costs a bunch to fill a tank and us older fellers like what we get at home best. My close relative can roast a turkey and stir up dressing that is just right! I know I am thankful for being at home and having the family come to headquarters for the feast!

The frost killed most things and old Dog had ice on his water pan this morning. Idread winter every year and it just keeps on coming at the end of summer no matter what I want. I got the heat tapes checked and plugged in, so I suspect I am ready.

It is my opinion, and everyone has one, I am looking forward to the Christmas season and I wouldn’t think it was right to have Christmas in summer weather, so I’d best be thankful for what I get!

Eat plenty and enjoy the day. Praise the Lord for all you have. I’m going to!
