Gravette to light up the holidays

— Gravette is gearing up for a “Light Up Gravette” event as a prelude to the Christmas and holiday season.

Saturday, Dec. 1, is kickoff day for the special events which will include a lighting ceremony and parade in downtown Gravette. A new lighting system is expected to be in place by a ceremony at dark that evening.

Activities will actually begin at 7 p.m. the preceding evening, Friday, Nov. 30, when the Gravette Community Choir will present “A Family Union Christmas” program at the Assembly of God Church. Directed by Gabra Stewart, the choir will becomposed of singers from several churches.

The program will be repeated at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Dec. 1, at the same location. There is no admission. For information, contact Stewart at 787-1010.

A Christmas Craft Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Gravette Civic Center. There is no admission fee. Vendors will be present with Christmas ideas. Forvendor information, contact Ransom, 787-5368, or Tina Crose, 787-0510.

The “Light Up Gravette” Christmas parade will assemble near the Civic Center that evening, with the parade to begin at 6 p.m. It will travel the usual parade route, then east on Main Street to Kindley Park where Santa will be present to visit with children.

At 7 p.m. “A Hometown Country Christmas” program will be presented at the Civic Center, featuring live music by Matt Reeves and the All Americans. There will be free chili andhot drinks, and program admission is also free.
