Gentry falls to Greenland, Rogers-Heritage

— The Pioneers got off to a slow start against visiting Greenwood on Nov. 19 and were never able to catch up.

Scoring only six points in the opening quarter, the Pioneers were overpowered by their opponents who racked up 28 points.

The second period was more balanced, with Gentry adding 14 to Greenwood’s 15 new points on the board.

After the half, Greenwood again dominated, adding 24 to Gentry’s 11 in the third and holding a commanding 67-31 lead entering the final quarter of play. The Pioneers added another 13 in the fourth, but without another score, Greenwood took home a 67-44 win.

Robbie Massie was Gentry’s high scorer, with three baskets and another two points at the free-throw line.

Dusty Haag picked upseven points, with two buckets and a three-pointer. He also led in rebounds with two offensive and five defensive grabs.

The Pioneers are scheduled to play in the Greenland tournament, which begins Thursday.

The girls played Rogers-Heritage on the 20th and lost 54-33 in the non-conference game.

The girls were to play in the Van Buren tournament at 4 p.m. Tuesday against Shiloh Christian.
