Man suffers electrocution

— A man who suffered an electric shock near Sulphur Springs Sunday was transported to Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette and later by AirEvac helicopter ambulance to another hospital.

Details of the accident, which occurred at a residence off Redbird Lane, were sketchy. His name was not available for release by ambulance or hospital personnel.

According to John Varner, Sulphur Springs fire chief, the man was apparently working at the residence when an aluminum ladder he was carrying came into contact with a power line.

Varner said members of his department used an automated external defibrillator to “bring him back.” Gravette’s ambulance personnel then made the transfer to the hospital.

Other details of the accident were not available at press time.
