Pesticide licensing class scheduled

— A second pesticide applicator’s certification class is scheduled for Dec. 6.

In Arkansas, a pesticide applicators license is required for any agriculture producer who wants to purchase and apply restricted-use pesticides.

To assist producers in meeting these requirements, I have scheduled a second pesticide certification class for Thursday, Dec. 6.

The class is offered to any agriculture producer regardless of acreage, cropor livestock produced. Due to space limitations, an RSVP by Dec. 3 is required. Seating will be on a “first contact” basis, so interested producers can RSVP by calling 271-1060 or email [email protected]. The next training class will not be held until 2013.

The class will be held at the Benton County Public Services Building on Highway 102 W in Bentonville, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Please allow travel time to account for Highway 102 traffic congestion at that time of the evening.

In addition to the State Plant Board five-year pesticide license fee of $45,there will be a $10 class fee per individual attending. More details about the class will be provided producers upon receipt of their RSVP.

The meeting is open to all eligible persons without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, marital or veteran status, or any other legally protected status. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means for communications of program information (large print, audiotapes, etc.) should notify the County Extension Office as soon as possible prior to the activity.
