Pies fly at OCH, but for a good cause

— Lots of pie filled the air at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette last Saturday when several doctors, nurses and hospital/clinic employees took aim at each other with meringue-topped pies. It was all in fun, even the cleanup which followed after the pies hit their tar- gets.

The pie toss was one of several projects to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Walk held in Springdale where several dozen local walkers participated.

The pie toss was organized by Morgan Black, OCH communications co- ordinator. She placed jars in the hospital cafeteria with names of providers and managers. The top three money-collectors were honored with the prize: a pie in the face.

Employees then bid for the honor of tossing a pie at their chosen target. The tossers and targets

were: Dr. Nancy Jones had the honor of targeting Dr. Marcus Poemoceah. Angie King, clinic nursing supervisor, threw a pie at Lorraine Oler, director of nurs-ing. Steve Oler, emergency preparedness coordinator’s target was Alexis Brown, chief operating officer. Meringue filled the air as the Jones/Pomoceah pie toss proceeded from a pie in the eye to a free-for-all (in

the following sequence): Pic1.,Dr.J hit Dr.P squarely on his head; Pic. 2, Dr. P prepared for revenge which he delivers in Pic. 3 as he plasters Dr. J with the remains of the pie that had struck him. Finally, when it was all over and the faces and hair were again visible, the pair of doctors grinned as they posed for Pic. 4.

Altogether, the fund-raisers were able to contribute more than $2,500 for the fight against Alzheimer’s, Black said.
