Work at Gravette schools progressing

— Much progress has been made during the several weeks of work on new baseball and softball fields at Gravette High School.

Fencing has not been installed, but sod is in place

on both fields, which are located west of the football stadium and field house.

Construction manager Jarod Porter said construc- tion of the fields required removing 6,000 cubic yards of clay and rocks — ap- proximately 200 large dump truck loads — from the sites. Approximately 140

dump truck loads of topsoil — 4,000 cubic yards — had to be hauled in to complete the base for the fields. The sod, installed several days ago, had not greened when the photo was taken.

Porter said the fields project is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

The other school project underway is construction of an addition to the Middle School building on the downtown campus. An older segment of a building which at one time was the high school has been removed, and construction of the new addition is expected to be completed sometime in the spring, weather conditions permitting.
