— OCH Walk-In Flu Clinic

The OCH of Gravette Clinic is hosting a Walk-In Flu Clinic on Thursday, Oct. 11, 1 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Adult, child and preservative-free vaccines are available. No specific appointment is necessary, but please call 787-5221 to schedule your family for the selected day. OCH Clinic accepts Medicaid, Medicare and some private insurances. Please call for self-pay pricing. The OCH of Gravette Clinic is located at 1101 Jackson Street S.W., adjacent to the hospital.

Coat Drive in Gentry

Turning Point Fellowship in Gentry is collecting coats for neighbors in need. All sizes for men, women, teens and children are needed. Coats may be dropped off at Gentry Bank and Gentry Post Office during business hours. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 29. Coats will be put to good use immediately on Nov. 2 to keep community members warm. Coats must be clean because no funds or facilities are available to wash them. Library Friends Sale

Gravette Friends of the Library invite all to a garage sale that will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the library, 407 Charlotte Street S.E. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations for the sale may be dropped off at the library. Funds raised will assist our local library with its needs.

DHS Volunteers Needed

The Decatur High School athletics department is looking for volunteers to help with junior- and senior-high athletic events. Anyone interested can call athletic director John Unger at 318-518-5337.

Pee Wee Basketball Signup

Signups for Gravette fourth-, fifth- and sixthgrade pee wee basketball will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the old gym. Cost will be $35 per player. Contact Bruce Bayley at 787-8650 or John Pollreis at 903-1140.

Library Hosts Fall Festival

Gravette Public Library will be hosting a Fall Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 27. The library is located at 407 Charlotte Street SE. Activities will include several game booths, face painting, crafts, spooky story time, a cake walk, as well as different food vendors. All proceeds will benefit the Gravette Public Library Building Fund.

Gentry Lions Club

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of each month in the McKee Community Room at the Gentry Public Library. Guests are welcome.

Hunters Breakfast

The Church on the Hill, located at 400 W. Hwy. 72 in Gravette, invites all hunters (and anyone else who is hungry at 4:30 in the morning) to a free community breakfast at 4:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13. The menu will include made-to-order eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, bacon, sausage, toast, milk, juice and lots of coffee. Benton County Cleanup

Benton County Cleanup will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 13. Residents can drop off their waste atthree locations, including the County Road Department office in Decatur at 200 Spavinaw Ave. Electronics, metal, paper, bulky household items and agricultural pesticides may be taken to any of the three locations. Document shredding and household hazardous waste disposal will be accepted at the Bentonville County Road Department, located at 1206 SW 14th Street (Arkansas Highway 102.) Musicians Swap Meet

The third annual musicians swap meet will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, in conjunction with the Gravette farmers’ market at Old Town Park in Gravette. People will be on hand to buy, sell or trade instruments, sell sheet music and other music-related items and tune instruments. There will also be open mic and jamming by musicians. Maysville Baptist Centennial

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church will be 100 years old this year. The building has been in continual use for services and is still serving the congregation. Pastor Raymond Scott invites all to the Homecoming Celebration to be held on Oct. 14, beginning at 10 a.m. Singing, the history of the church, introduction of former pastors and members are planned.

First Annual Alumni Game

The Gentry Pioneers boys’ basketball team will be holding an alumni basketball game for all Gentry Alumni. It will be played at the High School gym on Oct. 27 from 12 noon until finished. Hemphill Speaks on Heaven

Steve Hemphill, author of “My Search for the Real Heaven,” will speak at theGravette Church of Christ during the Oct. 14 Sunday morning Bible class worship and in the afternoon. He will speak on The Covenant and Spiritual Warfare. He will also be speaking at the High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. each day, Oct. 15-18, on the topic of heaven: Discovering Biblical details about heaven; Satanic strategies against heaven; prophesies of heaven; the resurrection and the new eternal body; and God’s reward system in heaven.

Gravette Community Choir

The Gravette Community Choir is rehearsing each Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church on Hwy. 72 west of town. Veteran’s Day Program

The Gravette High School E.A.S.T. is preparing a film to be shown during the annual Veteran’s Day program which will be held at the school Nov. 9. The film is one of the highlights which remind citizens of the sacrifices and service veterans have given. All veterans in the area are invited to the program. Revelation Study

The public is invited to a study of the book of Revelation being conducted on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Beacon Missionary Baptist Church. The study is led by Larry Hendren, former BMAA missionary to Bolivia, Costa Rica, Cape Verde Islands and Portugal.

Care and Share Vouchers

Care and Share has changed its voucher procedure. Vouchers will be issued only on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Care and Share Specialty Shop, 103 Huntington Street S.E., off Hwy. 59 South in Gravette. In an emergency,appointments may be made. Call 344-6114.

Booth Brothers Concert

The Booth Brothers will be making a return engagement in Gravette on Saturday, Oct. 20. The performance will be held at 1 p.m. at the GHS Performing Arts Center. This is the sixth year the well-known singing group has returned to Gravette. For information, contact Nola Linn at 787-6216, evenings.

Tastes of the Holidays

Tastes of the Holidays will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Nov. 4, at the Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12444 Fairmount Rd., Gentry. Samples of unique holiday foods, from breads to desserts, will be available. Ten different table decorations will be on display. A free recipe booklet of foods sampled will be provided to all who attend. Admission is free. The church is located east of Gentry on Highway 12 and south on Fairmount Rd.

Gravette Farmers’ Market

The Gravette Farmers’ Market is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, through November, with lots of locally grown produce and handmade crafts. For more information, contact Gravette City Hall, 787-5368.

Gravette GED Classes

GED classes meet Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gravette Public Library. The classes are provided by the NWACC adult education program, which also administers the official GED test at the Center in Rogers. Classes will continue on the above scheduled days from Aug. 20 to Dec. 14. For information, call the library at 787-6955.

Bow Raffle

As a part of its fund-raising activities to benefit programs serving children in the local communities, the Gravette Kiwanis Club will be awarding a Diamond Dead Eye Compound Bow by Bowtech. The bow, donated by Hook, Line & Sinker at Bentonville, is valued at $699 and will be given away Oct. 19 during a Lions football game. Ticketsare $5, or three for $10, and are available at many local businesses.

NWA Riding Club

NWA Riding Club play days are held every other week at the Luca Don Equestrian Center, 4.5 miles west of Gentry. Events include western pleasure, pole bending, flag races, barrel racing and speed races for all ages of riders, with an emphasis on kidfriendly family fun. Tired Iron of the Ozarks

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Gravette American Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 20 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is Oct. 16.

Hunter Education

A hunter education program is being planned for 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Gentry High School Cafeteria. Registration information for the course is available at the Gentry Public Library, 736-2054.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Harvest Baptist Revival

Revival meetings at Harvest Baptist Church will be held at 7 p.m. nightly Nov 4-9, on Main Street in Gravette. Evangelist Jack Bedford will be preaching, and his wifeVickie will be leading the song service. Each night the service will have a special appreciation focus for the community. Monday is “law enforcement appreciation night” in which the church will recognize local police and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office for their service to the community. Tuesday is firefighter/EMS appreciation night. Wednesday is our youth/kids night. Thursday we will recognize the city of Gravette itself. Then, on Friday, we will recognize the teachers from our local school system.

PonyDotz

PonyDotz is an organization for children and young people to learn about horses and have fun together. Programs will include youth trail rides, confidence-building games, learning the basics of horsemanship, water play, and lunch. Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.
