'Pickin' Time on 59' set to begin this weekend in west-side communities

— The firstever Highway 59 Pickin’ or Sellin’ yard sale will be held this weekend, Oct. 12-14, in all towns along Arkansas Highway 59 from Siloam Springs to Sulphur Springs and in all areas in between.

Highway 102 from Decatur to Centerton is also included during the sale,according to a spokesperson planning the event.

Chambers of Commerce in each of the towns are cooperating in sponsoring the event which, if successful, could possibly become an annual sale.

As part of the yard sale, a Musician’s Swap Meet with free entertainment will be held at the Gravette Farmers’ Market in Old TownPark Saturday only, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In Gentry, the event is being held in conjunction with the city's United Way Fall Festival, which includes a week-long quilt show and activities in the park on Sunday.

In Decatur, the west side of the General Store parking lot will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for those who would like space to sell yard sale items or arts and crafts. Participants will have to provide their own tables and chairs and register ahead of time. They can call Lisa Garrett at 787-0403 to get more information or to register.
