— This weekend is the area-wide arts and crafts fair. Leave for work a few minutes early and allow for the extra traffic. Drive courteously for our visitors.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Fielding entertained friends and neighbors with a pig roast and tour of their new home.

It was good to see Regina Keith able to be at church on Sunday.

Those having lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Ward Carrier on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Carrier, Mike Carrier, Gabe Carrier, Zack Allen, DaleLynn Carrier and myself. Zack had spent Saturday night with Grandpa and Grandma Carrier.

A very small attendance was reported for the meeting Thursday night concerning the future of the Hiwasse Post Office.

We received some very good and welcome rain Friday morning and Saturday evening. I got 5.6 inches at my house. Thankfully we missed the possible hail and tornados that were predicted.The frost on Monday morning made us realize fall is here.

The Hiwasse Christian Church had a guest speaker from JBU on Sunday.

October 17, 1829, Sam Patch, the Yankee Leaper, jumped 120 feet from a platform atop Niagara Falls into the river below. He survived.
