— Hunter Education

A hunter education program is being planned for 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Gentry High School Cafeteria. Registration information for the course is available at the Gentry Public Library, 736-2054.

Bow Raffle

As a part of its fund-raising activities to benefit programs serving children in the local communities, the Gravette Kiwanis Club will be awarding a Diamond Dead Eye Compound Bow by Bowtech. The bow, donated by Hook, Line & Sinker at Bentonville, is valued at $699 and will be given away Oct. 19 during a Lions football game. Tickets are $5, or three for $10, and are available at many local businesses.

Decatur City Council

Decatur’s November and December city council meetings have been moved from their usual dates on the second Monday of each month due to conflicts with Veterans Day and the Decatur Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. The November meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13. The December meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11. For more information, call 752-3912.

Coat Drive in Gentry

Turning Point Fellowship in Gentry is collecting coats for neighbors in need. All sizes for men, women, teens and children are needed. Coats may be dropped off at Gentry Bank and Gentry Post Office during business hours. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 29. Coats will be put to good use immediately on Nov. 2 to keep community members warm. Coats must be clean because no funds or facilities are available to wash them. Decatur Fall Festival

The Decatur Northside Elementary School will hold a Fall Festival from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 27. The event will include games, a chili cook-off and a silent auction. For more information, call 752-3981.

Booth Brothers Concert

The Booth Brothers will be making a return engagement in Gravette on Saturday, Oct. 20. The performance will be held at 1 p.m. at the GHS Performing Arts Center. This is the sixth year the well-known singing group has returned to Gravette. For information, contact Nola Linn at 787-6216, evenings.

Alumni Game

The Gentry Pioneers boys’ basketball team will be holding an alumni basketball game for all Gentry alumni. It will be played at the HighSchool gym on Oct. 27 from 12 noon until finished. Community Book Fair

A Scholastic Book Fair will be held at the Decatur Head Start from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 19, and will be open to the public. For more information, call 752-3704.

92nd Birthday Party

The family of Lena Burrow is celebrating her 92nd birthday with a comeand-go party at the Arvest Bank Community Room in Gravette from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. Everyone is invited to stop by and wish her a “Happy Birthday.” Cards, rather than gifts, are sugested.

Family Fall Festival

Heritage Baptist Church in Gravette will be hosting its Family Fall Festival Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This is a free event open to children up through fifth grade with their families. Children may wear appropriate costumes if they wish. Food, games and lots of goodies will be available.

Area Quilt Class

A monthly quilt class will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Gravette Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St. S.W. Instruction will be given on a quilt block, and there will be a “show and tell” time. Anyone interested is invited to attend. Bring completed quilts or projects in progress and a snack to share.

Library Fall Festival

Gravette Public Library will be hosting a Fall Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 27. The library is located at 407 Charlotte Street SE. Activities will include several game booths, face painting, crafts, spooky story time, a cake walk, as well as different food vendors. All proceeds will benefit the Gravette Public Library Building Fund.

Hemphill to Speak

Steve Hemphill, author of “My Search for the Real Heaven,” will speak at the High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Oct. 17-18, on the topic of heaven: Discovering Biblical details about heaven; Satanic strategies against heaven; prophesies of heaven; the resurrection and the new eternal body; and God’s reward system in heaven.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat will be held at Highfill’s city park from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28.

Halloween Set Oct. 31

Gravette Mayor ByronWarren has designated Wednesday, Oct. 31, as the official date for Gravette children and citizens to observe Halloween. The city wishes everyone to have a safe and fun celebration of the annual holiday.

Glenn Duffy Fall Festival

The annual fall festival at Glenn Duffy Elementary in Gravette will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the school. Games for the kids will include football throw, peanut pitch, lollipop tree, duck pond, bingo, ring toss and many more. Players will win prizes and candy. There will be a costume contest by age and grade (no scary costumes, please) and a cake walk. Great baskets will be available for bid at the silent auction. A chili supper will be served at a cost of $4 for those 12 and older, $3 for ages 5-11, and 4 and under free with an adult purchase. Everyone is welcome.

Gravette Community Choir

The Gravette Community Choir is rehearsing each Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church on Hwy. 72 west of town. The musical drama “One Quiet Night” will be performed on Dec. 1.

Veteran’s Day Program

The Gravette High School E.A.S.T. is preparing a film to be shown during the annual Veteran’s Day program which will be held at the school Nov. 9. The film is one of the highlights which remind citizens of the sacrifices and service veterans have given. All veterans in the area are invited to the program. Veterans who would be willing to give a short interview for the film are asked to contact the school or respond at [email protected].

Care and Share Vouchers

Care and Share has changed its voucher procedure. Vouchers will be issued only on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Care and Share Specialty Shop, 103 Huntington Street S.E., off Hwy. 59 South in Gravette. In an emergency, appointments may be made. Call 344-6114.

Decatur High

Tastes of Holidays

Tastes of the Holidays will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Nov. 4, at the Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12444 Fairmount Rd., Gentry. Samples of unique holiday foods, from breads to desserts, will be available. Ten different table decorations will be on display. A free recipe booklet of foods sampled will be provided to all who attend. Admission is free. The church is located east of Gentry on Highway 12 and south on Fairmount Rd.

Gravette Farmers’ Market

The Gravette Farmers’ Market is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, through November, with lots of locally grown produce and handmade crafts. For more information, contact Gravette City Hall, 787-5368.

GED Classes

GED classes meet Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gravette Public Library. The classes are provided by the NWACC adult education program, which also administers the official GED test at the Center in Rogers. Classes will continue on the above scheduled days from Aug. 20 to Dec. 14. For information, call the library at 787-6955.

PonyDotz

PonyDotz is an organization for children and young people to learn about horses and have fun together. Programs will include youth trail rides, confidence-building games, learning the basics of horsemanship, water play, and lunch. NWA Riding Club

NWA Riding Club play days are held every other week at the Luca Don Equestrian Center, 4.5 miles west of Gentry. Events include western pleasure, pole bending, flag races, barrel racing and speed races for all ages of riders, with an emphasis on kid-friendly family fun. Tired Iron of the Ozarks

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of each month in the McKee Community Room at the Gentry Public Library. Guests are welcome.

Gravette American Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 20 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is Nov. 20.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Harvest Baptist Revival

Revival meetings at Harvest Baptist Church will be held at 7 p.m. nightly, Nov. 4-9, on Main Street in Gravette. Evangelist Jack Bedford will be preaching, and his wife Vickie will be leading the song service. Each night the service will have a special appreciation focus for the community. Monday is “law enforcement appreciation night” in which the church will recognize local police and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office for their service to the community. Tuesday is firefighter/EMS appreciation night. Wednesday is youth/ kids night. Thursday the church will recognize the city of Gravette, and on Friday, the church will recognize the teachers from the local school system.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly’s Hill Road.
