— A strange sense of fashion and the alleged theft of grooming supplies led to the arrest of a Decatur man.

Franklin David Boyt, 29, faces felony charges for allegedly stealing a bag full of shaving equipment out of a car while the owner was watching.

The car was parked unlocked at the Hidden Springs Apartments in Decatur on Oct. 11 when Boyt reached in and took the bag, according to Decatur Police Sergeant Joe Savage. When the owner shouted at Boyt to stop, he turned around and shook the bag at the owner, and then continued on, Savage said.

Boyt was wearing aheavy leather jacket and a pair of shorts on a warm day, Savage said. Decatur officer Larry Fiedorovich was able to find and arrest Boyt based on the car owner’s description of his unusual dress.

Boyt left the bag of shaving equipment at a friend’s house but kept a canof Axe deodorant body spray in his jacket pocket, according to police. The grooming supplies were returned to their owner.

Boyt was transported to the Benton County Jail and faces felony charges of breaking and entering and misdemeanor charges of theft of property.
