Trick or Treat on Main

Gentry businesses will host Trick or Treat on Main Street in Gentry on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Last year approximately 1,500 trick or treaters visited Main Street for the event. Businesses are urged to team with other businesses, if necessary, to provide enough treats for all who participate.

Gravette Holiness Revival

The Gravette Church of God (Holiness) will be in revival through Oct. 28. The speaker will be Chad Snider. Snider is currently the pastor at the Bible Holiness Church in Altamont, Kans. The public is invited to attend the services each night at 7:30, and on Sunday at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. For information or transportation, call 787-7312.

Gravette Methodist ‘Trunk or Treat’

United Methodist Church in Gravette will hold its annual “Trunk or Treat” Halloween event for area children in the church parking lot between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. on Halloween night, Oct. 31.

Maysville ‘Trunk or Treat’

The Maysville Missionary Baptist Church is hosting its annual “Trunk or Treat” on Oct. 31. It will be at the church parking lot and will start at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to share the fun.

Hunter Education

A hunter education program is being planned for 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Gentry High School Cafeteria. Registration information for the course is available at the Gentry Public Library, 736-2054.

Chili Supper

The Gentry Masonic Lodge will hold its annual chili supper and dessert from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at the lodge hall, 1429 Gentry Blvd., Gentry. All proceeds will go to the Masonic Scholarship Fund.

Decatur City Council

Decatur’s November and December city council meetings have been moved from their usual dates on the second Monday of each month due to conflicts with Veterans Day and the Decatur Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. The November meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13. The December meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11. For more information, call 752-3912.

Indian Taco Fundraiser

The Maysville Extension Homemakers Club is sponsoring an Indian taco fundraiser beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Maysville Community Center. Indian tacos and a drink will be served at a cost of $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and youngsters 6-12. Ages 5 and under are free. There will also be a bake sale and cake walk. All proceeds from this event will go toward paying building expenses, such as utility bills and lawn mowing. For information, call 291-4650.

Coat Drive in Gentry

Turning Point Fellowship in Gentry is collecting coats, gloves, hats and scarves for neighbors in need. All sizes for men, women, teens and children are needed. Coats may be dropped off atGentry Bank or Gentry Post Office during business hours. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 29. Coats will be given to community members in need from 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Turning Point Fellowship in Gentry. Coats must be clean because no funds or facilities are available to wash them. Decatur Fall Festival

The Decatur Northside Elementary School will hold a fall festival from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 27. The event will include games, a chili cook-off and a silent auction. For more information, call 752-3981.

Alumni Game

The Gentry Pioneers boys’ basketball team will be holding an alumni basketball game for all Gentry alumni. It will be played at the High School gym on Oct. 27 from 12 noon until finished. Family Fall Festival

Heritage Baptist Church in Gravette will be hosting its Family Fall Festival Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This is a free event open to children up through fifth grade, with their families. Children may wear appropriate costumes if they wish. Food, games and lots of goodies will be available.

Library Fall Festival

Gravette Public Library will be hosting a fall festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 27. The library is located at 407 Charlotte Street SE. Activities will include several game booths, face painting, crafts, spooky story time, a cake walk, as well as different food vendors. All proceeds will benefit the Gravette Public Library Building Fund.

Highfill Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat will be held at Highfill’s city park from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28.

Halloween Set Oct. 31

Gravette Mayor Byron Warren has designated Wednesday, Oct. 31, as the official date for Gravette children and citizens to observe Halloween. The city wishes everyone to have a safe and fun celebration of the annual holiday.

Glenn Duffy Fall Festival

The annual fall festival at Glenn Duffy Elementary in Gravette will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the school. Games for the kids will include football throw, peanut pitch, lollipop tree, duck pond, bingo, ring toss and many more. Players will win prizes and candy. There will be a costume contest by age and grade (no scary costumes, please) and a cake walk. Great baskets will be available for bid at the silent auction. A chili supper will be served at a cost of $4 for those 12 and older, $3 for ages 5-11, and 4 and under free with an adult purchase. Everyone is welcome.

Maysville Food Pantry

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church opens its food pantry, “Our HealingHearts,” every fourth Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for those in need.

Praise and Worship Service

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church has a “Praise and Worship” service at 6 p.m. every third Sunday night with refreshments after.

Gravette Community Choir

The Gravette Community Choir is rehearsing each Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church on Hwy. 72 west of town. Veteran’s Day Program

The Gravette High School E.A.S.T. is preparing a film to be shown during the annual Veteran’s Day program which will be held at the school Nov. 9. The film is one of the highlights which remind citizens of the sacrifices and service veterans have given. All veterans in the area are invited to the program. Care and Share Vouchers

Care and Share has changed its voucher procedure. Vouchers will be issued only on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Care and Share Specialty Shop, 103 Huntington Street S.E., off Hwy. 59 South in Gravette. In an emergency, appointments may be made. Call 344-6114.

Tastes of Holidays

Tastes of the Holidays will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Nov. 4, at the Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12444 Fairmount Rd., Gentry. Samples of unique holiday foods, from breads to desserts, will be available. Ten different table decorations will be on display. A free recipe booklet of foods sampled will be provided to all who attend. Admission is free. The church is located east of Gentry on Highway 12 and south on Fairmount Rd.

Gravette Farmers’ Market

The Gravette Farmers’ Market is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, through November, with lots of locally grown produce and handmade crafts. For more information, contact Gravette City Hall, 787-5368.

GED Classes

GED classes meet Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gravette Public Library. The classes are provided by the NWACC adult education program, which also administers the official GED test at the Center in Rogers. Classes will continue on the above scheduled days through Dec. 14. Tired Iron of the Ozarks

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Gentry Lions Club

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of each month in the McKee Community Room at the Gentry Public Library. Guests are welcome.

Gravette American Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 20 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is Nov. 20.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Harvest Baptist Revival

Revival meetings at Harvest Baptist Church will be held at 7 p.m. nightly, Nov. 4-9, on Main Street in Gravette. Evangelist Jack Bedford will be preaching, and his wife Vickie will be leading the song service. Each night the service will have a special appreciation focus for the community. Monday is “law enforcement appreciation night” in which the church will recognize local police and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office for their service to the community. Tuesday is firefighter/ EMS appreciation night. Wednesday is youth/kids night. Thursday the church will recognize the city of Gravette, and on Friday, the church will recognize the teachers from the local school system.

Gentry Christmas Celebration and Parade

“It’s a Wonderful Life” is the theme of the annual Christmas celebration slated for Dec. 8. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the intersection just west of the railroad tracks and travel west to the Gentry City Park. There is no pre-registration or cost to be in the parade. Therewill be float awards for the best music, best theme representation, best lights and a grand prize for the best overall. For additional information, contact Bev Saunders at 736-2358.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men's fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.

WCTU Meeting

There will be a meetingof the Northwest Arkansas Woman’s Christian Temperance Union at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. This is a meeting of the local chapter of the WCTU, which is a worldwide organization that was organized by women who were concerned about the destructive power of alcohol and the problems it was causing their families and society. The purpose of the meetings is to educate about the harm that alcohol causes and to work against government policy that encourages alcohol and drug use. A topic of discussion for the meeting will be the upcoming ballot initiative which would increase the supply of alcohol in Benton County. The meeting will be held in the home of one of the members, at 10896 Northfork Drive, just off Mount Olive Drive between Decatur and Gravette. Gravette Trunk or Treat

A "trunk or treat" event will be held at the Church on the Hill parking lot, Arkansas Highway 72 east, Gravette, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31. Candy, caramel apples, hot cider and hot chocolate will be available at the event.
